R.O.T.T.S. RESCUE SUCCESS STORIESBEAU This was one of ROTTS best adoptions! Truly a match made in heaven! Soon after young Beau was posted on Petfinder, ROTTS received many applications to adopt him. One of those application came from Jeane and Jacob, and even though they live three hours away from us, something about them stood out during the interview and on the application. ROTTS volunteer, Irina Clow, decided to give them a chance and invited them to come and meet Beau. Jeane, Jacob and their two dogs drove to Irina's house, and while they were on their way, a terrible accident happened to Beau. Another dog broke out of his pen and attacked Beau. When Irina arrived home, about 30 minutes before Jeanne and Jacob arrived, Beau could barely walk. His hind legs were badly injured. Irina cleaned him up, gave him some pain medication, and immediately put him on antibiotics. When Jeane and Jacob arrived, Irina explained to them that Beau needed to go to a vet immediately, and assumed that there was no way that they would want to adopt him in this condition. She was wrong, as Jeane and Jacob wanted to adopt Beau on the spot! When Jeane saw how her son and Beau immediately took to each other, she called her vet at home, on a Sunday afternoon. Her vet said to meet her at the clinic, where she treated Beau and kept him overnight. Beau has since recovered from his injuries and is doing great! This is a true testament to the breed, and Beau is definitely a one of a kind dog! Thank you Jeane and Jacob for being such wonderful owners! Email From Jeane: Beau is doing great. He was a butterfly for Halloween. He was SO cute. He has been sleeping in bed with Jacob every night. He seems SO happy. The antibiotics are upsetting his stomach, he throws up once or twice a day, but not as much as he did the first two days. His leg isn’t swollen at all anymore. He totally ignores our cats. He walks SO well on a leash, not that he needs one. He stays under our feet the whole time. Some members of my family were upset that we got him because of the bad reputation people give Rotties. The ones that have met him so far agree that he is a big baby. He has yet to bark. He is having some accidents in the house, but I figure, in time, that will stop. He doesn’t seem to want dog food at all. We are working on that. I am on my third type. I think his mouth is sore because he doesn’t want anything crunchy. He is a great listener. My son talks to him at night before he goes to bed, and Beau just sits there looking at him and listening. Jacob reads to Beau every night. I adopted Beau for my son because he has been having some anxiety issues. He tells Beau everything, and Beau even helps him with his homework! I can’t thank you enough for rescuing this big baby. He was meant to be my son’s friend. It is amazing how it worked out, because I was looking for a female dog, and ended up with him. OH! And Beau is really smart about his medicine. I keep trying to hide it in his treats, but he knows it’s there and won’t eat them. So, I have just been putting them in the back of his mouth, and he does fine. There aren’t too many dogs I would trust enough to stuff my fingers in their mouth, but Beau is great. As soon as I can get a picture to you, I will.
From Jacob: Beau is a really good dog! Thanks for letting me get him. He’s my best friend and I love him. Email From Jeane: Here are a couple of pictures of Beau and Jacob sleeping together. I
went in there twice trying to sneak up on Beau, but you just can’t
do it. He can be sleeping anywhere else in the house, and you could walk
up on him without him waking. But, when he is sleeping with Jacob, his
head pops up the second that door opens. The first picture was taken right
after Jacob went to sleep. A couple of hours later, Jacob got up to go
to the bathroom. It’s so funny, because Beau follows him like he’s
afraid Jacob will get lost, even though the bathroom is right across the
hall. The second picture was taken about 45 minutes after the potty trip.
The one with Beau by the edge of the bed would have been really cute if
Beau hadn’t woke up. He had his head on Jacob’s pillow. They
are SO close. Beau has really been the perfect fit for our family. He’s
been here two weeks, and I couldn’t imagine Jacob’s life without
him. Jacob really thinks God made Beau for him, and him for Beau.
